As a first year math coach, this book has become my go to for just about every coaching cycle. It’s organization makes it easy to pinpoint strategies and resources to facilitate coaching conversations with teachers. All of the templates are also available on line in pdf and word format. This allowed me to send the resource digitally to my teachers so they could continue to use it to impact teaching after our coaching cycle was complete. Definitely is a great resource to get my coaching practice off the ground and moving confidently forward.

As someone who is new to coaching kids, this book got me to a great launching-off point. In retrospect, many of the strategies it goes over is pretty obvious (particularly to an already-experienced coach), but helped bridge the gap faster between me and my students. This book heavily emphasizes analysis and keeping track of your students’ progress, and there were many takeaways for coaching any subject; not only math.

I don’t think this book will be very useful for a more experienced coach, but as a newbie, I found it indispensable.
